How To Choose A Deep Well Submersible Pump

Aug 31, 2022

1 Selection of deep well submersible pumps

The selection of submersible pumps for wells should follow the following points:

1.1 Purpose of submersible electric pump for well

For pressure tank water supply, a well submersible pump with small flow and high lift should be selected; for water tower water supply, a medium flow well submersible pump can be selected according to the size and lift of the water tower; for farmland irrigation, the lift Under appropriate circumstances, try to choose a submersible electric pump for wells with a large flow rate.

1.2 Conditions of use

Before selecting the type, it is necessary to understand the basic situation of the well, such as the size of the well, the possible water output, sand content, etc., and select the appropriate electric pump specification according to the learned situation. Special attention should be paid to the fact that when the hydroelectric pump is a clean water pump, it cannot pump mixed water with a large amount of sand, nor can it be used for cleaning new wells, otherwise the water pump will be worn out. Burn out the motor.

1.3 Reasonable selection of accessories

When purchasing accessories for well submersible pumps such as cables, protection switches, and lifting pipes. You should choose the regular products matched by the manufacturer, so as not to leave hidden dangers for future use.

2 Correct use of submersible pumps

2.1 Installation of submersible electric pump for well

Before installation, you should read the instruction manual carefully and install it according to the prescribed procedures and requirements.

Also, note the following:

(1) Cable connector

The cable joint should be wrapped with the high-pressure adhesive tape that comes with the pump or the regular manufacturer's product, and wrapped according to the method described in the manual. In actual work, many tapes leak electricity due to poor insulation performance, which makes the cable joints unqualified, resulting in the electric pump not running normally.

(2) Installation head

The submersible electric pump for wells should be installed in strict accordance with the specified head to prevent the motor from overloading with low head and excessive flow, shortening the service life, and even burning the motor. It is understood that some users buy a pump with a higher head than the installed head when purchasing an electric pump, which will overload the motor, cause a large current, consume electricity, and shorten the service life of the motor.

(3) Installation depth

When installing the electric pump for the well, it should be based on the quicksand and silt conditions of the well. Determine the installation depth of the electric pump, do not bury the electric pump in the mud, to prevent poor motor heat dissipation or sand entering the motor cavity to wear out the bearings and burn the motor. Generally, it should be ensured that the distance from the base of the electric pump to the bottom of the well is not less than 3 m.

(4) Add water to the motor

When adding water to the motor, pure water should be used, and the water must be topped up. The correct way to add water is: after the water is full, let it stand for 20-30 minutes. Top up again. You can also shake the motor from side to side to speed up the filling of the motor cavity with water, especially for motors with higher power. During our inspections in the countryside, we found that many motors, especially high-power motors, were damaged due to a small amount of motor shortages.

Caused by water, first the upper guide bearing is holding the shaft or the upper part of the winding is damaged, and then the motor is burned. Therefore, when installing the electric pump, it should be ensured that the entire inner cavity of the motor is filled with water.

2_2 Correct use of submersible pumps for wells

(1) Initial installation and use

After the electric pump is installed, do not turn it on immediately. Carefully check the electric pump, starting equipment and instruments used, and test it after confirming that it is correct. After starting, use the meter to check the voltage and current of the electric pump, and it can be put into work after everything is normal.

(2) Daily inspection

The daily inspection contents include: check the power supply voltage and insulation resistance before starting the machine, and check the working current and the operation of the water pump after starting the machine. If problems are found, they should be solved in time, and it is strictly forbidden to operate the electric pump while sick.

(3) Other matters needing attention

① When the submersible pump is running, there should be a special person on duty, and if any abnormality is found, it should be stopped immediately for inspection.

②The submersible pump for wells should not be started and stopped too frequently. The outside of the submersible pump can be covered with bamboo mesh or barbed wire to prevent large stones in the well

The water pump impeller may be damaged by slag or other hard objects.

⑧ After the submersible pump is stopped, it cannot be restarted immediately. It must wait for the water in the pipe to return before restarting.

④When the submersible pump is on land for trial run, the running time shall not exceed 5 minutes.

(4) Troubleshooting

When the submersible pump fails, you should first check whether there is any problem with the peripheral equipment, such as whether the power supply is normal, whether the well water level has dropped too much, whether the pump pipe is leaking, etc. After the inspection is correct, the pump can be lifted out of the well, and the pump cannot be lifted blindly. If the electric pump fails, it should be sent to a professional for repair

It is best to go to the maintenance station designated by the manufacturer for maintenance to ensure the quality of maintenance. Never ask someone to repair or repair by yourself in the hope of being cheap for a while, let alone use fake and shoddy parts, so as not to cause more failures due to improper maintenance and debugging.

3 Maintenance and storage of submersible pumps for wells

3.1 Pay attention to the maintenance and storage of the electric pump, otherwise it will not only increase the operating cost of the pump, but also cause early damage to the electric pump.

3-2 Every 2 years of operation of the electric pump, a comprehensive inspection and maintenance should be carried out outside the well, and the worn parts should be replaced to ensure the good technical performance of the electric pump.

3.3 When the electric pump is not used for a long time (such as more than 1 year), the electric pump should be taken out of the well, and after a complete overhaul, put it in a room without corrosive substances and gases, and the temperature should not exceed 40 °C, and pay attention to rust prevention. . The room should be dry and ventilated to ensure that the stator windings of the motor are not damp.

3.4 When the electric pump is stored outside the well, the water in the motor should be drained to prevent the motor from freezing in winter.
