Method And Steps For Disassembling The Impeller Of A Split Casing Centrifugal Pump

Feb 16, 2024

Disassembling the impeller of a split casing centrifugal pump is an important maintenance task that ensures the efficient operation of the pump. Here are the steps for disassembling the impeller:

Step 1: Turn off the power to the pump to prevent any accidents.

Step 2: Disconnect the suction and discharge pipes from the pump.

Step 3: Remove the motor from the pump casing. This is usually done by removing the bolts that hold the motor in place.

Step 4: Remove the pump casing cover by unscrewing the bolts around the casing cover.

Step 5: Use a spanner to hold the shaft while unscrewing the impeller nut with a wrench. The nut can be found at the center of the impeller.

Step 6: Remove the impeller from the shaft. This can be done by gently pulling it out. If the impeller is stuck, use a puller to remove it.

Step 7: Check the impeller for any signs of damage such as cracks, wear, or corrosion. If any of these are present, the impeller may need to be replaced.

Step 8: Clean the impeller and shaft using a non-abrasive cleaner and a soft cloth.

Step 9: Reassemble the impeller and shaft by following the steps in reverse order. Make sure to tighten the impeller nut firmly.

By following these steps, you can effectively disassemble the impeller of a split casing centrifugal pump. This maintenance task should be performed regularly to ensure the efficient operation of the pump and prevent any breakdowns.
