Wear resistant slurry pump is a device used for conveying slurry, named after its wear and corrosion resistance. We may encounter some problems during the use of slurry pumps, such as idling, leakage, and seal failure. Once a malfunction occurs, it may affect the normal operation of the slurry pump. So, we need to find the cause of the malfunction, prescribe the right medicine, and solve it in a timely manner.
1. Wear resistant slurry pump idling
Idle running of wear-resistant slurry pump is a common fault, and its reasons can be summarized as follows:
Impeller wear. During the operation of the slurry pump, the solid particles in the slurry and the impeller blades wear each other to a certain extent, causing the slurry pump to run idle. If there is a problem of impeller wear, a new impeller should be replaced in a timely manner;
The seal of the slurry pump fails, and a large amount of gas is sucked into the pump, causing the slurry pump to idle. When the seal fails, the slurry pump should be stopped, the failure point should be checked, and the manufacturer should be contacted to solve the problem;
The low height or malfunction of the slurry pump head can also cause the slurry pump to run idle. Position the pump head correctly to avoid idling.
2. Leakage of wear-resistant slurry pump
The leakage problem of wear-resistant slurry pump may occur at any time. During the actual operation of slurry pump, the reasons are usually:
Evacuation, pressure build-up, and erosion can generate significant axial forces, causing separation and leakage on the surfaces of the moving and stationary rings;
Excessive compression of mechanical seal components can cause severe wear and abrasion of the sealing components;
The dynamic and static sealing rings are too tight, and the axial floating amount of the dynamic ring cannot be adjusted by the spring;

The installation of the static ring seal is loose, and the static ring becomes loose when the moving ring moves along the axial direction;
The working medium contains solid particles, which cause wear on the surfaces of the dynamic and static rings;
The selection is incorrect, the material of the sealing ring has high cold shrinkage, or the sealing end face has a lower pressure ratio. The above situation can be solved by adjusting the dynamic and static rings or disassembling the pump body and reassembling it.
3. Sealing failure of wear-resistant slurry pump
The reasons for the failure of slag slurry mechanical seals are:
Improper installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical seals, such as excessive or insufficient compression during maintenance and replacement, unclean sealing surfaces, and inaccurate installation of auxiliary sealing rings.
The setting of the auxiliary flushing system is unreasonable. If the auxiliary flushing system is not set correctly, it will cause impurities in the flushing liquid, insufficient flow and pressure of the flushing water, and fail to provide a sealing effect;
Due to system layout reasons, the third stage pump is subjected to high pressure and is prone to axial displacement during use, making its seal more prone to failure than the first and second stage pumps.
The above has analyzed the reasons for the idling, leakage, and sealing failure of the slurry pump, identified the problems in a timely manner, and improved the efficiency of the slurry pump. Of course, regular maintenance and repair are also essential.
