How To Solve The Problem Of Mechanical Seal Of Rotor Pump

Sep 02, 2021

1. Leakage during static test of rotor pump installation

After the installation and commissioning of mechanical seals, it is necessary to conduct relevant tests on the pump to observe the leakage of the equipment. If the leakage is very small, the main reason is that there is a problem with the dynamic seal ring or static seal ring; If the leakage is large, there may be problems with the friction between the moving ring and the stationary ring. In case of pump seal leakage, the first thing to do is to observe the leakage of the pump, determine the approximate position, and then manually shake the observation value.

2. Leakage occurred during the test operation of the rotor pump

After the pump passes the above test stage, the centrifugal force generated by high-speed rotation during operation will also inhibit the leakage of medium. Therefore, during the test operation, the leakage of the mechanical seal between the discharge shaft and the failure of the end cover seal are basically caused by the friction damage of the moving ring and the stationary ring. The main reasons for these phenomena are: evacuation, cavitation, compression and other phenomena occur during operation, which will cause large axial force and eventually lead to the separation of the contact surface between the moving ring and the stationary ring; Excessive compression will lead to more serious friction surface scratches; The seal of the moving ring is too tight, and the spring cannot adjust the axial floating amount of the moving ring. The seal of the stationary ring is too loose. When the moving ring floats axially, the stationary ring is separated from the stationary ring seat.

3. Mechanical seal failure of rotor pump due to equipment corrosion: the point joints on the sealing surface are corroded, resulting in penetration and pump leakage.

4. Mechanical seal failure of rotor pump due to high temperature: due to long-term dry friction of the equipment, sudden interruption of cooling water on the sealing surface, impurities entering the sealing surface, vacuum pumping and other reasons, radial cracks on the changing surface will be caused; When some auxiliary seals are at abnormal temperature, they will cause aging, rupture, and finally harden and lose their elasticity. These phenomena can also lead to pump leakage.
