Water Pump Maintenance Must Pay Attention To These Points

Apr 05, 2026

Water pump is an important drainage and irrigation machinery for rural domestic water. During operation, it is inevitable that there will be malfunctions, resulting in the inability to pump water normally. So, it is necessary to repair and adjust the water pump with poor pumping, and promptly eliminate the fault. What are the precautions to be taken during the maintenance process of submersible pumps?

1. Leakage of water pumps is a common problem and a risk factor for assisting personnel's personal safety. For example, if there is a leakage problem during the operation of a water pump, the workers and the leakage protectors with heavy power distribution on the circuit breaker and transformer will trip and burn out the motor. In addition, due to the long-term operation of the water pump, the sealing end face of the mechanical pump is severely worn. Once water enters, the motor winding will be soaked and leakage will occur. At this point, the staff can remove the water pump motor and place it in the drying room. They can use 100-200w incandescent lamps to dry the water pump motor and replace the mechanical seal. After installation, it can be put into use.
2. During the use of the water pump, it is important to check the motor frequently. Once cracks or damaged rubber sealing rings are found on the lower cover of the motor, they must be replaced in a timely manner to prevent water from seeping into the interior of the machine.

3. Try to avoid starting up at low voltage. The power supply voltage should not differ from the rated voltage by more than 10%. If the voltage is too high, the motor will overheat and burn out the winding. If the voltage is too low, the motor speed will decrease. If it does not reach 70% of the rated speed, the centrifugal switch will close, causing the starting winding to be energized for a long time and generate heat or even burn out the winding and capacitor. Do not frequently turn on and off the motor, as it will generate backflow when the electric pump stops. If you start it immediately, it will cause the motor load to start, resulting in excessive starting current and burning out the winding.
