What Are The Troubleshooting Methods For Self-priming Centrifugal Pumps

Oct 11, 2025

Self suction centrifugal pump has the characteristics of simple structure, easy operation and maintenance, stable operation, large displacement, high efficiency, easy adjustment, and wide range of use. The overcurrent components of a self-priming centrifugal pump include a suction chamber, an impeller, and a discharge chamber. The impeller chamber is the core of the pump and also the core of the flow components, mostly made of copper material. The pump works on the liquid through the impeller, increasing its energy.
Many customers encounter various problems when using pump products, and the causes and discharge methods of gear oil pumps or centrifugal pumps are basically the same. Below are some common troubleshooting methods for self-priming centrifugal pumps:
(1) The oil pump is not producing oil: there is no liquid storage or insufficient liquid storage in the pump casing; Air leakage in the suction pipeline; The speed is too low; The suction distance is too high or the suction pipeline is too long; Excessive leakage of mechanical seal; The gas in the suction pipeline cannot be discharged from the outlet;

(2) Insufficient oil output of the oil pump: blockage of the impeller passage or suction pipe; The impeller or impeller sealing ring is severely worn; Insufficient power and too low speed;
(3) The oil pump has a loud noise and vibration: the foot is unstable; Cavitation phenomenon; Severe bearing wear; Pump shaft bending; There are debris in the pump or inlet pipeline; The main shafts of the pump and the motor are different;
(4) Excessive power consumption of oil pump: Friction occurs in the rotor part; The axis of the pump does not coincide with the axis of the motor; The flow rate of the pump is too high;
(5) The rotor of the oil pump is overheating or not rotating: foreign objects are mixed in the pump, causing it to get stuck; Poor lubrication conditions lead to shaft holding;
(6) Bearing heating: The bearing lacks oil lubrication or the selection of lubricating oil is unreasonable; The pump and motor axes are not concentric;
