Mud pumps do not have cutting impellers and are commonly used for pumping mud. The two main performance parameters of a mud pump are displacement and pressure. That is, the larger the aperture, the greater the required displacement. The upward velocity of the flushing fluid is required to timely flush the rock debris and powder cut by the drill bit away from the bottom of the hole and reliably carry them to the surface.
