How To Maintain A Submersible Pump

Mar 01, 2026

1. Electrical aspect

If you want to perform electric maintenance on a submersible pump, you need to check the working voltage and current of the submersible pump. Only when the working voltage and current of the submersible pump are in a normal state can the submersible pump work normally. Otherwise, certain faults may occur and even pose a threat to personal safety.

We all know that submersible pumps have insulation resistance to the ground. After using them for a period of time, it is necessary to check and develop a good habit of regular inspections. Before using submersible pumps, everyone should check the sensitivity of the thermal relay equipped. In addition, we also need to see if other protective measures can work properly. If not, repair them in a timely manner to prevent further hidden dangers.

2. Mechanical aspect

According to common sense, submersible pumps have certain mechanical sealing performance and should be checked in a timely manner. If the mechanical seal of the fountain pump fails, it is recommended to repair it immediately. In addition, check whether the oil hole is short of oil. If it is short of oil, it should be replenished immediately to prevent affecting operation. In addition, it is recommended to use engine oil, as inferior oil can also affect the operation of the instrument. If necessary, new oil can be replaced.

What should be noted during the operation of a submersible pump?

(1) Pay attention to the sound and vibration of the submersible pump. If abnormal sound or significant vibration is found in the unit, the vehicle should be stopped to investigate the cause and prevent accidents from occurring.

(2) Always pay attention to the position of the instrument pointer. If there is any sudden change, check the cause. Usually, when the reading of the vacuum gauge suddenly rises, it is likely that the water level in the inlet pool drops too low or the inlet pipe is blocked by debris. The sudden drop in pressure gauge reading is likely caused by a decrease in the speed of the power machine or the suction of air into the pump. After finding the cause, find a way to eliminate it.

(3) Regularly check the temperature and lubrication of bearings. For bearings lubricated with oil rings, pay attention to whether the oil rings rotate flexibly, add bearing oil in a timely manner, maintain an appropriate amount of oil, and ensure that the oil quality is clean. Generally, sliding bearings should be replaced every 200-300 hours, but the number of oil changes should be reduced every six months. Rolling bearings should be checked and replenished after 1500 hours of operation, and new water pumps should be replaced in advance.

(4) Pay attention to whether the stuffing box is normal. Water keeps dripping from the filling (usually about 30 drops per minute). If it is too much or too little, adjust the cover screw to properly press the filling.

(5) Regularly check whether there is air leakage in the inlet pipe and packing box. When there is air leakage, the pressure gauge reading will decrease and the submersible pump will make abnormal noise. Measures should be taken to prevent air leakage; Otherwise, the water output will decrease, and in severe cases, there may be no water.
