What Are The Reasons And Solutions For Centrifugal Pumps Not Starting Or Having High Rear Axle Power After Starting

Feb 24, 2026

When the centrifugal pump behind the machine fails to start or experiences high rear axle power, motor heating, or even tripping during restart, it is necessary to analyze and solve the problem.

(1) The outlet valve is opened too wide, exceeding the rated value too much; Close the outlet valve and gradually open the valve.

(2) Serious friction occurs between the pump rotor and stator; Adjust the position of the rotor to eliminate friction.

(3) The bearing is severely worn; Replace with high-quality bearings.

(4) The motor speed exceeds the rated value too much; When the pump flow rate is high, try to reduce the pump speed as much as possible and use a variable frequency motor.

(5) Motor and pump eccentricity; Horizontal centrifugal pump motors and pump heads with couplings may experience eccentricity during transportation, so adjust the concentricity of the pump.

(6) If the centrifugal pump uses old-fashioned packing seal, it may be due to the packing being too tight; Adjust the tightness of the packing sealing cover and packing;

(7) Voltage too low; Low voltage is generally not easy to detect, and this possibility needs to be ruled out in order to provide power.
